New Designer’s Platform
Training to develop fashion, art and craft enterprises amongst migrants and individuals that are marginalised is lacking. In line with the 2020 Action Plan of the European Commission, New designer’s platform aims to provide participants with a practical entrepreneurial experience.
Our participants include adults that are disadvantaged such as migrants, older people who are socially isolated and adults with low or no qualifications. Together we hope to create a dynamic learning environment as the learners exchange their different learning experiences and competences, but all set out to progress professionally and personally.
WHAT DO WE PROVIDE?
We aim to give participants a first-hand experience through the journey of a Fashion entrepreneur and provide an understanding of the demands of the Fashion industry. To achieve this we will be delivering a range of class based learning activities in conjunction with learning visits to garment manufacturing companies, industry shows and events. Our training methods are linked to industry practices to ensure that the provision is closely matched to the current industry needs
HOW WILL THESE SKILLS ENHANCE LIVES?
The skills training and engagement with the industry will not only equip the participants with technical production skills for development of new products, but will also enable them to market themselves to an international Fashion market. We aim to encourage individuals to recognise their capacity to become more innovative and competent for their development in their entrepreneurial skills, ultimately improving their career prospects and labour mobility.
TAKING CARE OF OUR WORLD
We also encourage and promote the use of eco-friendly textile production methods that incorporate environmentally friendly production methods. Other features and highlights are heritage and cultural themes in the design of unique garments and fashion accessories.
